Marmaris is a popular resort town located in the south-west coast of Turkey where the Aegean and the Mediterranean sea meet. Marmaris is a natural harbour, and with its large number of bays and antique cities in the vicinity, along with the possibility of engaging in all types of water sports, it has become a favourite holiday destination. Marmaris is reached via Dalaman airport.

Diving in Marmaris
Marmaris offers a good variety of diving, located largely in the Bay of Marmaris. Around Yildiz Ada and the smaller Keci Ada (respectively Star and Goat islands) groupers, octopuses, jacks and sea breams may be seen. At the western tip of another small island, Bedir Ada, at a depth of 24m the remains of an 800 year old Ottoman wreck makes for an interesting dive. Another interesting aspect of diving in Marmaris is the numerous underwater caverns: Baca Magara, the chimney cavern of Yildiz Ada, the entrance of which is at 14m and the exit at 3m below the surface, makes a stimulating second dive.

Video equipment is used regularly to capture the dive trip, and you can watch yourself on the screen once back in the marina. On board equipment includes Oxygen, First Aid supplies and Marine VHF. Equipment available includes BCD's 12 litre steel tanks, full one piece 5mm wet suits, shorties and regulators.

Summary of Dive Site
A favourite divesite for customers wanting a second look. A tiny island 100m from the shore with just its jagged rocky tip showing above the waves which in the past attracted dozens of Roman & Grecian ships onto. These boats after coming to grief on this tiny island, showered the area with amphora. Also in the area are 2 ancient anchors estimated by experts to be over 400 years old. On your circuit of the island you will come across Groupers, Moray eels & Octopus. Please remember, it is illegal in Turkey to remove even the smallest broken piece of amphora from the seabed. An excellent dive.
